April 12th 2013

Dang and Doc, grumpy following the continued failings of their own teams take a pessimistic look at the NFL. There are no more undefeated teams after week five, the first time since 1979. QBs vs D
14/1/2010
vincentjackson3The NFL is a quarterback’s league. The game is designed to showcasing the gaudy passing statistics that the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals threw out in the Wildcard Round. This is what the NFL fanbase seems to expect as the aerial bombardment of the college game seeps into the league. The AFC though has given us a test of whether this league really does belong to the passers alone and all the cards are stacked in the QB’s favour this time. Pro football is a deliciously brutal world and injuries are part of it. Injuries are not evenly distributed around the league and luck has little if anything to do with that. Rules Changes for 2010
30/3/2010
kurt warner The rules changes for the 2010 NFL season have been headlined by the proposal to amend overtime for the playoffs but the biggest change by far is the elimination of leaping contact to the head. This is a huge change. For some it is further evidence of the game’s pandering to non-violent political correctness, for others it will safeguard the standard of living in a particularly dangerous work environment. While both views may be correct, it is a change that will radically alter the game as we know it … ( full article )

Does The 2008 Schedule Already Tell Us Who We’ll Be Watching In January?

Last year six of the dozen playoff teams had a record of 10-6 or 9-7. In 2006 an 8-8 team made the NFC’s sixth seed, in addition to the six 10-6 or 9-7 teams that again made the playoffs. We can see that looking back at the standings for those two years that 18 teams finished within two games of an 8-8 season. This does seem to back up what so many NFL observers seem to like to point out, we are in “an era of parity”… ( full article )
