Press Conference Jerod Mayo

Press Conference:
Jerod Mayo
interviewed by Michael E Lawrence
24/10/2009

Second year linebacker Jerod Mayo has returned from injury just in time to power up a re-energised Patriots defense. Jerod is a little looser than the average Patriot – open to talking about winning games, and just a little bit superstitious with it.

Here’s some of what the Diner and Jerod talked about:

Diner: How does this defense compare to last year – is it a stronger unit overall?

Jerod: I wouldn’t say a stronger unit but it’s definitely a younger unit. Especially before Junior got here – when he arrived the average age of the defense went up a couple of years! But it’s a young unit, a hungry unit, and we’re just trying to get better each and every week.

Diner: Adalius Thomas is coming back this week after being inactive in week six. Can he make an impact?

Jerod: Any time you have a player like Adalius coming back it’s an upgrade to your team so hopefully he can make some big plays Sunday. We really took notice when he was held out last week but coach Belichick knows what he’s doing and we got a huge win last week. Now hopefully we can get another one Sunday.

Diner: Tell us about the beard you’re growing, it’s getting pretty noticeable…

Jerod: (Laughing) Well I’m not shaving until we win an away game.

Diner: So you should be shaving Sunday night?

Jerod: Hopefully yeah! I might not have any hair on my face after that.
