Q&A with 49ers' Troy Smith
by Michael E Lawrence
October 27th 2010

Troy Smith Q. Troy, this is a situation where you're going to have reps with the 49ers' first team for the first time... What's your goal?

A. To continue to prepare like a madman! I think the easiest way to get through to your teammates and show you're serious about what's going on is to know exactly what your job is, know exactly what everybody expects of you and go out and execute.

Q. Coach Singletary cited your leadership as one of the reasons he made this move - is it harder to be a leader on a team at which you only recently arrived?

A. I wouldn't say that it's harder but at the same time you've got to respect your boundaries - you gotta not step on anybody's toes, I believe in fitting in, knowing and learning your niche.
