Football Diner Champ, there’s some great CBs in the league right now - yourself, Darelle Revis, Nnamdi Asomughua - do you get caught up in the league table of who’s best?
Champ Bailey No, for me it’s just about playing my game. That’s really for the fans and the media to do all the speculating. Some guys promote themselves to be the best but I just play my game and let my game speak for itself.
Football Diner And looking forward 10-15 years to the legacy you’d like to leave behind, what will they remember above all about the way you played corner?
Champ Bailey Well... I hate to think about when I’m done! You know hopefully a guy that worked hard and was one of the greatest among all football players, not just corners.
Football Diner You say you hate to think about when you’re done, is that because that passion for the game is ultimately what makes a player great?
Champ Bailey Definitely. Cos I wanna be here as long as I can - if I could play until I’m 50 I would.
Football Diner Where does your passion for the game come from?
Champ Bailey It’s just, I guess, growing up in the household I did. My Dad, my uncles, everybody played football. I was raised a football player and it’s something I’ve been good at since I was little, so I just wanna keep playing as long as I can.
Football Diner How proud is the Bailey family now with everything you’ve achieved?
Champ Bailey Real proud, real proud... I’m assuming! My Mom she’s proud of what I’ve done, how I’ve handled my success as well.
Football Diner And on Sunday, any particular matchup that you’re looking to take on?
Champ Bailey Oh, all of ‘em. They got talent across the board but we know their offense starts with number 21, Frank Gore. We’ve definitely got our hands full with him, Crabtree and Vernon Davis.
