Football Diner Writers & Staff

Diner Staff
Michael E Lawrence
Editor

Michael E Lawrence once modelled his hair on Ken O'Brien. In the 16 years since abandoning the O'Brien bonce, he has written for Gridiron magazine, the now defunct First Down newspaper in its Stephen Anglesey incarnation, and spent time as a Production Assistant on Sky's live Sunday NFL shows, usually running about in delirium putting half time highlights together or swearing at the hot chocolate machine.

Diner Staff
Rich Lawrence
Webmaster

Fantasy Maverick Rich Lawrence's Fantasy Football pedigree is undisputed. With a career .700 winning percentage across countless redraft and keeper leagues – not least NFL.com Champions leagues and the WRUKSCFFL – his fantasy instincts are more finely honed than T.O., one of the countless bad attitude superstars upon which his teams tend heavily to rely.

Diner Staff
Chris Brophy
Writer

Chris Brophy has followed NFL football and the Redskins in particular for over 20 years, since first catching the game on Channel 4 as a wee boy. He attributes his uncanny knack for picking winners in NFL games to a strict regimen of study, insight and coin tossing.

Diner Staff
Samuel Monson
Writer

Sam Monson became an ardent Vikings fan at the age of seven when he lived in Rochester, Minnesota. Now based in Dublin, he combines encyclopaedic knowledge of Pro Football history with a total and unremitting bias towards all things Purple.

Diner Staff
Jody Jamieson
Writer

Jody has been an avid NFL fan since 2000, passionately (sometimes over passionately) following the thrills and spills of the Philadelphia Eagles. Bringing the world renowned Scottish passion to the Diner and the game, Jody has a keen eye for the most minute trend and the most obscure facts, regularly thinking out loud with his weekly Top Fives list.

Diner Staff
Keith Bowden
Writer

Keith Bowden was the editor of FB&S from January 2006 to February 2008 (the last UK based magazine that covered the NFL and NCAA, we think). Keith is also the commissioner of the LAFFL, a fantasy league that started in 1994, and apart his marriage and smoking, is one of the few things he has been any good at. He watched the first Channel 4 football programme in 1982 and has been hooked ever since - as the official FB&S wife will attest to with his growing collection of books and shirts.

Diner Staff
Mark Lyne-Austen
Writer

Mark Lyne-Austen prefers to be known as MLA. Despite being 27 and injured, he still believes it is only a matter of time before his break into the NFL as a premier DB. When not watching or thinking about the NFL, MLA is an inveterate writer spending time blogging, forum hopping, or penning samples for his future treatise.

Diner Staff
CJ Sanchez
Writer

Sanchez is more of a myth then a man. In fact he's more of a legend. Yeah, that's more like it – 'Legend'. He can often be found in telephone booths, changing from his everyday clothes into an all in one spandex and lycra affair. Aside from that he is a writer, avid Dolphins fan and borderline fruitcake.

Diner Staff
Rob Staton
Writer

Rob works as a sports journalist and broadcaster and flies the 12th man flag for the Seattle Seahawks having formerly lived on the West Coast. He recently moved back to the UK from across the pond for the Hollywood lifestyle that can only be found in Rotherham.

Diner Staff
Mark Bielby
Writer

Mark Bielby saw his first American Football game in 1984, and by 1986 was a self-confessed draftnik thanks to Bo Jackson. His fascination with the draft grew ever more so when he saw ESPN's coverage for the first time in 1992, and the following year he started covering the NFL draft for the Redskins Review.
Thanks to publications like Ourlads, Pro Football Weekly, Kipers and Draft Insiders Digest, his interest is kept up year round culminating in April's draft. Twice recently he's headed out to New York to soak up the draft atmosphere. But not in Radio City Music Hall or the ESPN Zone Times Square - in Hooters, 56th and Broadway.

Diner Staff
Ben Stockwell
Writer

Ben is a Ravens fan with a healthy obsession and hatred to fit in with the fan base of the Charm City, Steeler bashing is a favourite past time. A big fan of College and Pro Football, fall weekends become 48 hour gridiron marathons. Often imitated, never replicated.

Diner Staff
Paul Hopkins
Writer

Paul was bitten by the Cowboys bug as a boy - attracted more at the time by the uniform than the team. Since then, he's developed an intense bias towards every Longhorns player in the NFL, particularly ones called 'Vince'. He lives, and pretends to work, in Newcastle.

Diner Staff
James Izzard
Writer

James Izzard is renowned throughout the NFL world as the man who streaked at the Wembley game, (He Wishes) - but he is a huge fan of both the NFL and College Football, a Packers fan he resides and works in London.
